Volunteer tutors are at the heart of the DreamCatchers program. You don’t need to be an experienced tutor, but you do need to want to make a difference in the lives of socioeconomically disadvantaged middle school students in the Palo Alto Unified School District.

Our school year program takes place on all three PAUSD middle school campuses - Fletcher, Greene, and JLS. You can design a schedule that aligns with your availability.

Not only will your participation give you community service hours, but it will give you the opportunity to make a significant difference in a DreamCatchers student’s life and help reduce the academic opportunity gap in our own community.

As a tutor you will help a student gain the academic skills and self-confidence to succeed in their middle school classes and beyond. You will develop a relationship with middle school students, help them complete their schoolwork as well as help fill in gaps in their academic knowledge.

You don’t need experience to become a tutor. We provide relevant, practical training. In addition to the orientation session, we host regular skill development sessions during the academic year.

As a tutor you won’t be on your own. You will be in a classroom with many other tutor-student pairs/groups and a classroom director.  You will also be supported by DreamCatchers professional staff members.
